Palwal Man Accused of Firing Inside Own Gym to Implicate Rivals

Palwal man accused of firing inside – A local gym proprietor was apprehended in Palwal on Sunday for allegedly discharging gunfire within his fitness center to falsely accuse three competitors of attempted murder. The police revealed on Monday that the owner also aimed to pressure them into returning ₹15 lakh he claimed was unlawfully taken after they had damaged his premises. The three rivals were also detained for their alleged involvement in the vandalism.

Incident and FIR Registration

The event occurred at Dhateer on Saturday morning. Following the gym owner’s report, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Gadpuri police station under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 191(3) (rioting with a weapon), alongside other provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.

Weapons Recovered

Policemen confiscated two pistols from the gym owner. Meanwhile, a homemade firearm and an iron rod, suspected to have been used in the damage, were recovered from the three rivals.

“The owner alleged that approximately a dozen individuals, including the three accused, entered his gym around 5 a.m. and fired at him,” said DSP Sahil Dhillon of Palwal headquarters.

According to Dhillon, the suspects then vandalized the gym and destroyed his i20 car parked outside before escaping. However, during the investigation, it was discovered that no gunfire occurred during the attack. Six empty cartridges and four pellets were found at the scene, but witness accounts and cartridge analysis indicated the possibility of deliberate evidence planting.

Dispute Over Plot Payment

The gym owner had previously paid ₹15 lakh to a close friend and his sibling for a land plot that was never actually sold, sparking a disagreement. Investigators concluded that after the attackers fled and a crowd gathered, the owner allegedly fired shots himself to frame his rivals and secure attempted murder charges against them.

Subsequent Charges

A new FIR was later filed against the gym owner under Sections 221 (obstructing a public servant) and 231 (fabricating evidence to secure a conviction) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with the Arms Act. This led to his arrest. The attempted murder charge against the three rivals was subsequently withdrawn by the police.
