Trump Announces US-Iran Peace Deal for Sunday, Hormuz Blockade to Cease

Trump says US Iran peace deal – On Saturday, US President Donald Trump declared that a peace agreement with Iran, designed to conclude the ongoing conflict, would be finalized and signed on Sunday. This declaration followed recent remarks from Pakistan, which had indicated the deal was nearing completion and expected to be signed within 24 hours.

“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.

However, Iran’s foreign ministry expressed skepticism, with spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei noting earlier in the day that the deal’s signing on Sunday was not certain. According to state media, the final decision remained pending.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously asserted that the peace deal would be signed within 24 hours. Despite this, the Iranian representative emphasized, “although it will not be tomorrow,” leaving the timeline uncertain.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier hinted that the agreement could be reached “in the coming days,” while a senior US official cited an 80 to 85 percent confidence level in finalizing the deal.

Regional Tensions Amid Progress

The optimism surrounding the deal emerged despite a recent escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, which has been a focal point of the prolonged conflict affecting the region and global oil markets. Weeks of negotiations following the April 8 truce have yet to yield a breakthrough, with Trump repeatedly claiming proximity to an agreement only for talks to extend beyond expectations.
