The IOC has formally asked WADA to strengthen the testing protocol for Russian athletes, which includes administering multiple tests to any Russian national expected to earn a spot at LA 2028.

WADA President Witold Banka explained to AFP that the continuing war in Ukraine renders any review of Russia’s national anti-doping agency impractical.
“RUSADA remains non-compliant with the code. To check whether they are compliant or not, we need to do the audit, an in-person audit in Moscow.”
“Because of the political situation and the war, it was impossible to do it,” Banka added.
How the Ban Was Triggered
The IOC originally imposed its Russia ban in October 2023 after the Russian Olympic Committee voted to admit sports bodies from territories Moscow had annexed as full members.
