On Tuesday, the D1 Triplicane Police Station registered a case based on this complaint and detained Thirunavukkarasu along with two associates, Naresh from Tiruchirappalli and Thiyagarajan from Chennai. The police confirmed that Naresh had met with V Ashok Kumar, the brother of former DMK minister and Coimbatore South legislator V Senthil Balaji, in Chennai days before the arrests. “Inquiry confirmed that V Ashok Kumar, the sibling of former DMK minister and current Coimbatore South MLA V Senthil Balaji, interacted with the accused. Further investigation showed Thirunavukkarasu contacted the MLA and executed the alleged acts under Senthil Balaji’s and Ashok Kumar’s direction,” police stated.
DMK’s Call for Formal Legal Measures
Three days after the MDMK left the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) and joined TVK, the DMK urged the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption authorities to initiate a formal complaint. RS Bharathi, the organizing secretary of the DMK, argued that the opposition was being unfairly targeted, pointing to the MDMK’s previous support for the ruling party.
