I thought of the situation as an opportunity to improve my score. So I thought, why should I go to the protest? Instead, I could be studying at home and improving my skills and score.

Critical Responses from Opposition Groups

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate immediately criticized the Finance Minister’s stance on social media platforms. She argued that Sitharaman’s comments minimized the genuine concerns of students who faced unfair disadvantages due to the leaks.

The Cockroach Janta Party also voiced strong opposition to the minister’s observations. Ashutosh Ranka from the party questioned the logic behind praising paper leaks, suggesting that such reasoning could justify widespread examination irregularities across the country.

The party further raised concerns about whether the government was shifting focus from its responsibility to prevent leaks toward highlighting potential benefits for students.

Government’s Response and Actions Taken

The Finance Minister emphasized that concrete steps had already been initiated against those involved in the paper trading network. She clarified that arrests were made before the official announcement about establishing fast-track courts for speedy justice.

In fact, much before today’s announcement of setting up fast-track courts and assuring the punishments will be handed over to those people who violated the sacredness of an exam by leaking the papers, by buying papers, by selling papers–even earlier to this announcement, the government arrested those people who actually committed this crime.

Sitharaman explained that the culprits had compromised thousands of students’ academic futures for personal gain. She noted that the Prime Minister’s recent announcement would provide comfort to families whose children were preparing for these critical career-defining examinations.

Today’s announcement by the Prime Minister assures the citizens, the mothers and the fathers who are supporting their children to make sure that they pass these examinations because it’s their career.

In a notable development, Sonam Wangchuk concluded his 26-day hunger strike late Thursday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh attended the event marking the end of the fast, signaling potential progress in addressing student grievances.
