Muslim Man Assaulted by Mob in Uttarakhand for Visiting Hindu Woman

Bharatmorningnews.com – Authorities in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, reported that a Muslim man was attacked by a group of people after visiting a Hindu female friend at her residence in Kankhal. The incident occurred on Sunday, with the assailants reportedly securing a dog leash around his neck before subjecting him to violence.

Social media platforms shared footage of the event, which appears to depict Shadab from Haryana’s Karnal sitting outside the woman’s home with blood flowing from his head. A crowd surrounds him in the video, and in one clip, a man is heard questioning him, “Were you unaware she is a Hindu woman?” Another segment allegedly shows a man striking him on Saturday.

Legal Action Initiated

Preliminary charges have been filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 115(2) for voluntary harm, 191(2) for rioting, 333 for trespassing with intent to harm, 351(2) for criminal intimidation, and 352 for intentional insult aimed at inciting unrest.

“I had known Shadab for five years and had no issue with his visits. However, a group of around twelve men stormed into my house and attacked him. I attempted to step in, but they continued their assault and threatened to kill him,” the woman stated in her complaint.

Ravi Chauhan, representing Bajrang Vahini Dal in Haridwar, claimed they were informed of the Muslim man’s presence in a questionable situation. “We informed the police and handed him over for further action,” he said.

Anuj Singh, a senior sub-inspector, described how they received notification on Saturday afternoon about the assault. “We arrived at the scene, transported the injured man to a hospital, and registered a case based on the woman’s report. She confirmed she was familiar with him and had no objection to his visit,” Singh added.

The police are currently analyzing CCTV recordings and social media videos to determine the individuals involved. “We will proceed with the necessary legal steps,” Singh concluded.
