“We continue to closely follow developments that happen in our neighbourhood, keeping in mind our national security interests. And whatever measures have to be taken in that regard, we take those to secure our interests,” he said, without going into details.

Addressing inquiries about Bangladesh’s request for fuel assistance amid an energy crisis, Jaiswal mentioned he lacked current information on the matter. He highlighted that India and Bangladesh maintain active economic and energy ties.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s power and energy minister, Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, met with Indian high commissioner Dinesh Trivedi in Dhaka on Thursday to discuss additional diesel requirements. According to the Indian high commission’s social media announcement, both parties explored methods to enhance bilateral collaboration within the power and energy domains.
Mahmood informed journalists following the discussion that inadequate diesel supplies had disrupted power generation and caused blackouts. He explained that Bangladesh receives diesel through an existing pipeline from India and has requested increased deliveries.
“We have a pipeline with India through which diesel is supplied. We have asked them to provide more,” he said.
