By God’s grace, our old house is in an area that hasn’t been completely flooded.”

Government Relief Measures Announced
The Assam administration announced on Monday that it has distributed the initial installment of approximately ₹160 crore as interim assistance to more than 75,000 households hardest hit by this year’s deluge, according to government officials. The death count from the floods climbed to 85 after three additional fatalities were confirmed on Sunday, while the total number of people impacted decreased to 1.35 lakh.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has been visiting the most severely affected regions in Upper Assam, announced the relief distribution from Dibrugarh. Officials stated that roughly 75,000 families with extensively damaged homes in Sivasagar, Chariadeo, Jorhat, and Golaghat districts each received ₹15,000. Eligible households also qualified for subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar initiative.
The Chief Minister had previously outlined several temporary relief provisions for the hardest-hit districts, which will be funded through contributions collected via the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
