Tragic Death in Varanasi: Friend Stabbed After Kitchen Dispute

Bharatmorningnews.com – Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old man lost his life following a violent altercation in Varanasi. The victim, identified as Deepanshu Rai who was also known by the nickname Lucky, was found with a fatal stab wound in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The incident occurred in VDA Colony, located within the Badi Gaibi area under Bhelupur police station jurisdiction.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to preliminary findings, the tragedy stemmed from a disagreement between the two men over cleaning dishes after preparing a meal. Both Deepanshu and his companion Kush Pandey had been spending time at Harishchandra Ghat before returning to their shared room around 10:30 pm, reportedly both in a heavily intoxicated state.

Once inside their room, tensions escalated regarding cooking responsibilities and washing utensils. During this heated exchange, Kush Pandey allegedly used a vegetable knife to strike Deepanshu in the abdominal region, police stated.

Police Response and Investigation

Information about the stabbing reached authorities through the Dial 112 emergency service. Deepanshu was promptly transported to the BHU Trauma Centre, where medical professionals examined him and pronounced him dead.

ACP Bhelupur Gaurav Kumar revealed that Kush Pandey was detained at the scene following the incident. The suspect has since been taken into custody for further questioning. Kumar noted that the two men shared accommodation and frequently visited the ghat together.

During interrogation, Kush Pandey told police that they returned to their room from the ghat at around 10.30 pm, both heavily intoxicated. A dispute then broke out between them over cooking and washing dishes.

A formal case has been filed under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder charges. Law enforcement officials continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal stabbing.
