Man held for running over traffic – Authorities in southeast Delhi apprehended a 31-year-old man after he allegedly collided with a traffic officer during an incident at Sarai Julena. The arrest occurred on Friday, following a search that spanned two days, according to police. The vehicle involved was seized as part of the investigation.
Accused Details
The individual, identified as Md Mubashshir Abbas, resides in Jamia Nagar and works as a sales director at a company located in Connaught Place. Police confirmed his involvement in the incident, which took place on June 10.
At approximately 9:45 am on June 10, head constable Rahul Kumar of the New Friends Colony traffic post was directing traffic near the Sarai Julena red light. The accused was driving on the wrong side of the road at high speed when Kumar ordered him to stop. The driver allegedly accelerated, striking Kumar before fleeing toward Mata Mandir Marg.
Investigators noted that Abbas frequently used his mobile phone, altered his route, and hid the vehicle to avoid detection. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to taking the wrong side of the road to bypass traffic congestion, as he was rushing to meet work commitments.
The police station in New Friends Colony registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act following the incident. Kumar sustained injuries and was hospitalized after the collision.
