Kushinagar – In a case suspected to be a hate crime, two teenage sisters were reportedly killed by their father and two minor brothers in Kushinagar district, according to police on Tuesday. The attack took place on Monday evening in Devnagar Tola village, under the Sewrahi police station’s jurisdiction.

Investigation Progress

The accused father, identified as Ram Prasad Bind, 50, is currently on the run, while his two sons—aged 12 and 14—have been detained. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Siddhartha Verma stated that the father allegedly used sticks and clubs to assault his 15-year-old and 17-year-old daughters inside their residence. The victims died from their injuries at the scene.

“The father, along with his two minor sons, allegedly beat the two daughters to death using sticks and clubs. The weapons used in the crime have been recovered from the scene. The two juvenile boys have been taken into custody, while the father is absconding. Efforts are underway to arrest him,” Verma said.

Preliminary Findings

Circle officer (CO) Ajay Kumar Singh noted that initial investigations suggest the father was troubled by the alleged relationships of his daughters with two youths from the same community. “Preliminary investigation indicates that the father was upset over the alleged relationships of his daughters with two youths. Further investigation is ongoing, and action is being taken in accordance with the law,” Singh added.

Ongoing Steps

Police arrived at the village after receiving reports from local residents and discovered the two minor boys sitting outside the house. During questioning, the boys reportedly confessed to taking part in the assault with their father. The bodies of the victims were retrieved from the residence, and the alleged murder weapons were seized. Postmortem examinations are now in progress.

Officials mentioned that the father had frequently argued with his daughters over their relationships and suspected their behavior. The girls had reportedly left home on several occasions, returning after a few days, which sparked repeated conflicts within the family. To cut off communication, the father allegedly confiscated their mobile phones.

Forensic evidence is being gathered, and statements from witnesses are being recorded as part of the ongoing inquiry. Authorities are examining all factors that contributed to the double murder.
