CR Resumes Operations on Key Routes After Landslide Repairs

Bharatmorningnews.com – Following extensive efforts to clear debris and stabilize tracks, the Central Railway (CR) has reinstated rail connectivity along the Karjat-Lonavla ghat section. This restoration brings train services between Pune and Mumbai closer to regular operations, with two lines now functional after prior disruptions. The southeast down line was fully reinstated and reopened for traffic on July 14, building on the earlier recovery of the mid line on July 7.

Train Services Adjusted for Normalcy

The railway administration has announced the return of multiple long-distance and intercity services that were previously impacted by heavy rains and landslides. The Bengaluru-CSMT Udyan Express (11302), which had been short-terminated at Khadki, will now resume its full route to CSMT starting July 17. Similarly, the Solapur-CSMT Siddheshwar Express (12116), halted at Pune, will operate through to CSMT from the same date.

Additionally, the CSMT-Bengaluru Udyan Express (11301) and CSMT-Solapur Siddheshwar Express (12115) will restart departures from CSMT on July 18. The CSMT-Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Express (17411), which had been suspended during the crisis, will also resume operations on July 18. Its reverse route, the Kolhapur-CSMT Mahalaxmi Express (17412), will follow suit from July 19.

Amended Routes and Service Updates

The Ahmedabad-Tiruchirapalli Express (09419), rerouted via the Surat-Manmad-Daund-Solapur path, will revert to its original alignment from July 16. Earlier, the iconic Deccan Queen (12123/12124) and Pune-Mumbai Intercity Express (12127/12128) were already restored to their regular schedules on July 16, easing travel for thousands of daily commuters.

Railway officials stated that restoration work remains ongoing for the remaining sections of the Lonavla-Karjat stretch. Teams are operating in challenging weather and rugged terrain to remove obstacles and expedite the resumption of full train operations. Passengers are urged to consult the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app or reach out to the railway helpline for real-time updates. The CR also shares regular service status through its official social media channels.
