Union Government Advances Third Jan Vishwas Edition for Business Simplification
Centre working on 3rd edition of Jan – Jai Prakash Shivhare, Joint Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), revealed that the Union government has initiated consultations with industry stakeholders to gather insights and refine the third iteration of the Jan Vishwas initiative, with the aim of further easing business operations and reducing regulatory burdens.
Shivhare highlighted that previous reforms, including Jan Vishwas 1 and Jan Vishwas 2, have already eliminated outdated legal provisions and modernized key aspects of regulatory frameworks, contributing to a more efficient business environment.
Reforms and Vision for Viksit Bharat
Current efforts focus on collecting stakeholder feedback through consultations to refine processes and procedures, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
“The Jan Vishwas initiative is a central government reform aimed at boosting the ease of doing business by decriminalising minor violations across various central laws and replacing them with civil penalties.”
In a special campaign commemorating the 12th anniversary of the NDA government, Shivhare addressed media on “Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Investment Promotion,” emphasizing India’s rise as a top-five global economy and its $95 billion FDI inflow last year, reflecting an 18% annual growth.
He noted that states are engaging in competitive federalism, driving increased investment. Additionally, a robust startup ecosystem has flourished, with over 2 lakh active startups across diverse sectors. International investors are now seeking collaborations to support these ventures.
The Union Budget this year allocated resources for the creation of 100 new industrial towns. Shivhare stated that the Centre has already received proposals for 25 towns within a week and another 25 within a month, with approval expected for 50 towns soon.
Addressing concerns about the US-Iran conflict’s effect on trade, Shivhare mentioned that inter-ministerial groups have been established to provide targeted support. He added that India has successfully diversified its export portfolio and witnessed growth in international trade.
