Harshad Chopda Makes Shocking Confession About Self-Harm After Heartbreak on Lock Upp 2: ‘The Scars Are Still There’
Bharatmorningnews.com – During the second season of *Lock Upp*, television actor Harshad Chopda opened up about a deeply personal experience from his past that he had kept private for years. In a candid exchange with hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, the actor revealed how a devastating breakup in his early twenties led him to take drastic action, leaving behind visible reminders of that emotional turmoil.
The Emotional Revelation
Chopda’s emotional breakdown occurred after he found himself in the bottom three of the competition and used his lifeline to avoid elimination. Reflecting on a difficult chapter of his life, he spoke candidly about the heartbreak, the regret, and the lessons he learned from the experience.
A Painful Breakup
The incident unfolded when Chopda was 23 and had just settled in Mumbai. He was in his first serious relationship, which lasted around eight to nine months. One day, his girlfriend called to confess she had cheated on him, claiming it was to provoke jealousy. The revelation left him in despair, and in that moment, he hurt himself.
“Maine apna haath kaat liya (I cut my hand),” he confessed.
The Aftermath
Looking back, Chopda described the event as one of the most challenging moments of his life. He admitted he had injured his leg and struggled to walk, yet managed to reach a nearby hospital. The doctors then informed him they would have to notify the police, which terrified him.
Reflections on a Dark Period
Chopda explained that he initially believed physical pain could help him cope with emotional anguish. He shared how he tried to diminish his suffering by substituting it with self-inflicted wounds. “I wanted to feel so much pain that this pain would be nothing in front of that,” he said.
A Secret Shared Alone
At the time, Chopda was still adjusting to life in Mumbai, living alone and grappling with intense emotions. He kept the incident hidden, even from his father.
“Nobody knows this secret, not even my father. I lived here alone. I didn’t know the consequences,” he reflected.
He recalled how the fear of death had initially eased his panic, but surviving only deepened his anxiety. “She came back, and we carried on. I was stupid; it was foolish,” he added.
Chopda concluded his heartfelt confession with a message he wishes he had grasped earlier. He urged people to cherish their worth and avoid letting heartbreak lead to self-harm.
“Nothing in life is worth self-harming. It is very important to value yourself and love yourself. Respect yourself more,” he asserted.
This marks the second time Chopda has discussed his emotional scars. Earlier in the season, he revealed that in 2010, during the beginning of his career, he was betrayed by both his girlfriend and his best friend, who had grown close. The dual loss shook him profoundly, intensifying one of the toughest periods of his journey.
The new season of Ekta Kapoor’s reality show returned on Netflix India, featuring Shilpa Shinde, Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, Sufi Motiwala, Shreya Kalra, and Dheeraj Dhoopar among others.
