Three Arrested in Bomb Attack at RSS Office in Ranchi

Three arrested in bomb attack at RSS – Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a bomb attack that targeted an RSS office in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The incident occurred during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, when police apprehended the suspects from a location under the jurisdiction of Chutia police station. The arrests mark a significant development in the investigation of the attack, which has raised concerns about the potential involvement of extremist groups in the region.

Details of the Incident and Initial Arrests

The bomb attack at the RSS office in Nivaranpur left the area in chaos, with the explosion causing damage to the premises. Among the three arrested, Saif Ansari was seriously injured when he was shot in the leg during a police encounter after attempting to flee custody. According to the police, Ansari overpowered a guard and slipped out of the room through an exhaust fan, while maintaining the illusion of normal activity by leaving the tap running. He was later taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment.

Police officials confirmed that the arrests were made following a thorough investigation and swift action by the law enforcement agencies. SP (City) Paras Rana, who shared the update with media at Kotwali police station, detailed that Saif escaped from custody around 11:30 am and was seen heading toward Garikhana. Further tracking revealed his movement to Mandar, where he reportedly grabbed a weapon from a police officer and fired multiple shots before being subdued by the responding forces.

Background on the Suspects and Their Ties to Radical Networks

Officials have indicated that the three arrested suspects may have links to an international terror module, suggesting a possible connection to overseas extremist networks. One of the detainees, Saif Ansari, is believed to have prior ties to Dubai, where he allegedly met with anti-national figures such as Rana Hussain (also known as Rana Ji) and Shahbaz Alam (referred to as Bhatti). These associations have led investigators to suspect that the group was radicalized abroad and assigned to carry out the attack in Ranchi.

Additionally, the other two suspects are from Lohardaga, a district in Jharkhand. They were detained from a train near Koderma, which highlights the strategic planning involved in the operation. The police have emphasized that the suspects were operating in coordination, with their movements and actions carefully orchestrated to execute the attack without immediate detection.

“The initial investigation suggests that the accused might have been part of a larger plot aimed at destabilizing local institutions. Their escape from custody and subsequent actions indicate a level of preparedness and intent to carry out the attack with minimal risk,” said a police official during a press conference.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Rajan confirmed that the arrest of Saif Ansari and Aman Ansari near Gujhandi Railway Station in Koderma was facilitated by joint efforts from Bokaro and Koderma police. Their confessions provided crucial information that led to the identification and capture of Sayam Sujan in Ranchi during a raid. The suspects’ admissions have helped build a clearer picture of the attack’s planning and execution.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the three individuals, with an FIR filed at Chutia police station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosive Substances Act. These charges include offenses such as causing grievous harm, using dangerous weapons, and acts of terrorism. The case also involves Sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which address the planning and execution of such attacks.

“The attack on the RSS office in Ranchi is a clear example of how terrorism can strike at local centers of influence. The involvement of international figures in the planning underscores the need for enhanced intelligence cooperation between domestic and foreign agencies,” noted the official during the press briefing.

As the investigation continues, authorities are focusing on uncovering more details about the network and its objectives. The bomb attack has drawn attention to the security situation in Ranchi and the potential threat posed by radicalized groups operating within the country. With the arrests, the police hope to dismantle the entire module and prevent further attacks in the region.
