Ghaziabad Implements Traffic Measures for Kawar Yatra Through August 12
Bharatmorningnews.com – The municipal traffic authority in Ghaziabad unveiled a comprehensive diversion strategy for the upcoming Kawar Yatra pilgrimage. These traffic regulations will remain operational from the final days of July through mid-August, ensuring smooth movement for devotees and commuters alike.
Heavy Vehicle Restrictions Begin Early
According to municipal documentation, heavy commercial vehicles will face movement limitations starting July 29 and continuing through August 12. Lighter commercial transport and personal automobiles will encounter separate restrictions running from August 5 through the twelfth of the month.
These vehicles will navigate alternative paths along the Delhi Meerut Road, a critical corridor linking Ghaziabad with Meerut city and Uttarakhand state. The Pipeline Road and Upper Ganga Canal Road will remain closed to all traffic during the specified period.
Designated Carriageways and Entry Points
Motorists approaching from Mohan Nagar, Meerut Crossing, Raj Nagar Extension crossing, and Hapur Chungi must utilize only the Ghaziabad-Meerut carriageway on the Delhi Meerut Road, formerly known as NH-58.
Travelers arriving via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway can exit through the Dasna interchange before proceeding along National Highway 9 toward their final destinations.
Vehicles travelling from Delhi to Meerut via the Delhi Meerut Expressway will be diverted on the NH-9 at Dasna and move towards Hapur to reach Meerut. The movement of vehicles on the Delhi Meerut Expressway will be restricted from 8am on August 7.
Expressway Closure Details
DCP (traffic) Trigun Bisen explained the rationale behind the selective restrictions. He noted that increased Kanwariya traffic on the Delhi Meerut Road necessitated limiting light vehicles to the Ghaziabad-Meerut carriageway only.
Since there will be high movement of Kanwariyas on the Delhi Meerut Road, only the Ghaziabad-Meerut carriageway will be used by light vehicles for going towards Meerut. The restrictions will start from August 5 till 12 and normal traffic will be restored from August 13. Similarly, the Delhi Meerut Expressway will be shut for all vehicles from August 7 to 12.
Auto and Bus Route Modifications
Auto-rickshaws will experience complete movement bans between Seemapuri Border and Lal Kuan, marking the boundary between Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar districts. Additional auto restrictions will apply between Mohan Nagar Crossing and Anand Vihar border during the August 5-12 window.
Public buses will navigate through the UP-Gate located near Ghazipur before continuing their journey on NH-9.
Monitoring and Flexibility
Authorities indicated that the diversion strategy could undergo modifications depending on Kanwariya crowd volumes. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and NH-9 serve as potential alternative corridors for travelers.
Traffic police personnel will maintain round-the-clock presence at critical junctions and diversion points throughout the pilgrimage period. Real-time monitoring will be conducted through both CCTV cameras and aerial drones to ensure optimal traffic flow management.
