King of Fruits Meets Global Culinary Creativity in ‘Mangomania’
King of fruits meets global culinary – As summer arrives, the vibrant mango takes center stage, inviting chefs to explore new ways of presenting the fruit. The ongoing “Mangomania” festival is a celebration of this tropical gem, blending bold tastes, international influences, and seasonal delights to honor its significance.
Festival Details
Currently taking place at Mido Social House in Kailash Colony, the festival spans a month and features a menu that showcases mango in diverse forms—savoury, sweet, and savory. Each dish offers a unique experience, merging familiar flavors with unexpected twists.
The festival’s menu defies conventional approaches, combining fresh Alphonso mango with zesty lime, fiery habanero, tangy chamoy, and creamy avocado. These elements create a dynamic interplay of sweetness, heat, and acidity, redefining how mango is perceived in modern cuisine.
“Mangoes evoke a sense of nostalgia and joy that is deeply rooted in the Indian summer experience. With ‘Mangomania’, we wanted to celebrate the fruit in a way that feels fresh, contemporary and exciting,” said Kanishk Tuteja, co-founder of the restaurant.
Culinary Highlights
The festival kicks off with the Mango & Tajin Bowl, where chilled Alphonso mango is paired with lime, chilli salt, micro mint, and a chamoy drizzle. This dish sets the tone for a journey through global flavors, with the next offering being Chilli Mango Tacos.
The Chilli Mango Tacos feature a vibrant mango habanero salsa, pickled red cabbage, and lime crema nestled in soft corn tortillas. Guests can choose between crispy fried chicken or tofu to complement the sweet, spicy, and tangy combination.
For a more substantial bite, the Mango & Prawn Flatbread delivers a satisfying blend of chilli-lime prawns, raw green mango slaw, avocado crema, and pickled red onions atop a wood-fired flatbread. This dish exemplifies the festival’s commitment to innovation while respecting traditional roots.
The festival continues its celebration with a sweet finale. Mango Sticky Rice offers a comforting dish of pandan-scented coconut rice, fresh mango slices, and toasted sesame. Complementing it is Mango Chia Pudding, layered with coconut-soaked chia, mango compote, and tajin-spiced cubes.
The indulgent Mango Basil Sundae concludes the experience with house-churned mango basil ice cream, churro crumble, salted caramel, and chamoy. This dessert balances classic comfort with a contemporary edge, reflecting the festival’s creative spirit.
