Delhi Next Hackathon Ideas to Be Piloted by Government, Says CM Rekha Gupta

Chief Minister Highlights Youth Innovation in Civic Tech Initiative

Delhi Next Hackathon ideas to be piloted – Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, highlighted the innovative spirit of participants during the recent Delhi Next – Code, Create & Change hackathon, emphasizing its role in bridging youth creativity with governance and urban planning. She described the event as a transformative step in incorporating young-driven solutions into the city’s development framework.

The civic-tech event, which attracted over 10 million participants nationwide, serves as a pivotal platform for addressing urban challenges through technological advancements. Officials stated that the initiative connected students, coders, entrepreneurs, and innovators to propose answers for pressing issues in Delhi and other cities.

“Delhi Next is not merely a hackathon. It is a strong platform that directly connects the ideas and aspirations of young people with governance,” Gupta said during her address.

Of the many applicants, 60 teams were shortlisted to present practical and scalable solutions targeting issues such as traffic congestion, waterlogging, air pollution, digital governance, waste management, and citizen services. The participants displayed technology-based models aimed at enhancing public service delivery and improving residents’ daily experiences.

The Chief Minister emphasized that several of these innovations would now transition to pilot projects in collaboration with relevant Delhi government departments. Officials overseeing the initiative noted that the selected teams would gain mentorship, institutional backing, and a clear plan to test their ideas on the ground and assess their long-term viability.

Government representatives added that partnerships between civic tech and policymakers are gaining traction as a means to achieve more efficient governance and faster, data-informed solutions to urban problems. The event is anticipated to foster deeper engagement between officials, innovators, and citizens in crafting sustainable strategies for the capital.
