Delhi Police Rescue 20-Day-Old Boy in Child Trafficking Case

Man daughter in law held for buying – Delhi police announced on Monday the rescue of a 20-day-old boy, who was allegedly purchased by a businessman and his daughter-in-law for ₹8 lakh. This follows a broader investigation into a child trafficking network that is believed to have sold approximately 30 infants over the past two years.

Interstate Syndicate Unraveled

Recent arrests were made after authorities dismantled an interstate trafficking group, capturing 13 individuals. The group included a hospital owner from Delhi, a lab technician, traffickers, mediators, transporters, and potential buyers. To date, six babies have been recovered from the operation.

Hospital at Center of Scandal

According to police, the racket was centered around Hira’s Multi Speciality Hospital in Begampur, Rohini. Earlier arrests involved Dr. Viveki, 47, the hospital’s owner, freelance lab technician Pratibha, 34, and Saybabhai Ghamar, known as Kalia, 25, a resident of Rajasthan’s Udaipur now living in Gujarat.

“A majority of the infants were kept at Viveki’s hospital after fake records were prepared to show they were born there. The babies were concealed, medically attended to, and prepared for illegal transfer to prospective buyers,” said an investigator.

Targeting Vulnerable Families

Investigators, who requested anonymity, revealed the syndicate focused on families in Rajasthan and Gujarat. These families were paid ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh for newborns, which were then sold to couples in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat for ₹6 lakh to ₹9 lakh.

Rescue and Arrests

A raid in Rohini’s Sector 3 led to the infant’s recovery. Garima Jain and her father-in-law, Satish Jain, a steel equipment factory owner, were arrested. Garima’s husband remains at large. The child has been placed in a child-care facility.

“Based on documents recovered from the hospital, statements of the accused, and call-detail records, we found that a baby had been sold to a childless couple in Rohini. A raid was conducted on Monday, resulting in the infant’s rescue,” stated an officer involved in the case.

Ongoing Investigations

Police continue to track the biological parents of the rescued boy and seek additional victims linked to the syndicate. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Devesh Chandra Srivastava noted the operation has been active for over three weeks, with more arrests and recoveries anticipated.
