One killed three injured as BEST – A civic-operated bus collided with multiple vehicles in Mumbai’s Dadar area on Monday morning, leading to one death and three serious injuries, as confirmed by officials. The incident occurred near Veer Kotwal Garden, a bustling intersection adjacent to Plaza Cinema in the west suburb of Dadar.
According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, a BEST bus on route 463/31 abruptly veered off course before striking a four-wheeler and a two-wheeler. The impact immobilized nearby drivers and pedestrians, prompting rapid deployment of emergency services to the scene.
Victims and Medical Response
Emergency teams from the fire department and local police arrived to extract the trapped individuals and provide immediate aid. All four casualties were transported to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, commonly referred to as Sion Hospital, for urgent care.
“An unidentified man in his early 20s was pronounced dead upon arrival,” stated Dr. Randhir, an assistant medical officer at the facility.
The three injured individuals are receiving treatment for critical injuries. Rishabh Gupta, 25, sustained a severe head wound and remains in critical condition. Satish Waghambare, a BEST conductor aged 48, suffered chest and hip trauma, while Mahesh Doiphode, 50, was treated for a left shoulder injury and blunt force damage.
Following the crash, authorities began removing debris and damaged vehicles to ease traffic congestion in the heavily trafficked Dadar market zone during peak hours. The police are now investigating the cause, focusing on potential mechanical issues or driver error.
