Delhi set for a ‘mostly dry’ week, IMD predicts
Delhi Expected to Experience Predominantly Dry Conditions This Week
Delhi set for a mostly dry week – The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a largely rain-free stretch for Delhi, following two days of intense downpours. From Sunday to Thursday, the city will likely see no precipitation, with light to very light rain anticipated only on Saturday morning.
Safdarjung weather station recorded a mere 1.2mm of rainfall on Friday, marking a stark contrast to the heavy monsoon activity earlier in the week. On Wednesday and Thursday, several areas logged over 100mm of rain, with Safdarjung measuring 106.2mm each day.
Temperature Trends and Meteorological Context
IMD projections indicate a rise in Delhi’s maximum temperatures, expected to climb to 37°C to 39°C by Sunday. This range is anticipated to persist through Thursday, as the weather system stabilizes.
Experts suggest that the shift in the monsoon trough toward the Himalayas is responsible for the upcoming dry spell, which will reduce the likelihood of significant rainfall.
AQI Levels and Air Quality
Delhi’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was in the “good” category on Thursday, with a reading of 48. However, it increased to 65 on Friday, falling into the “satisfactory” range.
