Now, ad hoc employee’s role at KGMU HRF Store under scanner

Scrutiny Over Ad Hoc Appointment Intensifies

Now ad hoc employee s role – As investigations into potential administrative and financial discrepancies at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) continue, the role of an ad hoc employee serving as financial advisor at the Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) Store has come under closer examination. Records reveal that the employee’s contract was extended from October 10, 2025, to January 10, 2026, raising questions about the rationale behind assigning such duties to temporary staff.

HRF Head Explains Appointment Process

Dr Kumar Shantanu, who oversees the HRF, stated the individual was placed in the position on a temporary basis when the HRF initiative began at KGMU in 2024. The decision, he explained, was made to maintain operational efficiency during the initial phase. The employee’s selection was based on their extensive experience at the HRF Store of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), spanning two decades.

“The appointment was made on a fixed salary, with a three-month tenure that is renewed periodically,” Dr Shantanu said.

Committees Investigate Multiple Departments

Several committees are reviewing documents and financial data from various units, including cardiology, ophthalmology, urology, radiotherapy, and the HRF Store. This follows allegations of irregularities in different sections of the university. Investigators aim to determine the scope of these issues and evaluate whether any procedural oversights occurred.

Previous Ad Hoc Incident Sparks Concerns

Earlier, an ad hoc worker in the urology department was discovered to have handled purchase orders for significant sums. After an inquiry uncovered these responsibilities, the employee was dismissed. An FIR was subsequently filed with the Chowk police station, marking the first legal action in this series of probes.

Focus on Administrative Practices

The latest developments have deepened concerns about KGMU’s administrative procedures, especially the delegation of critical financial and procurement tasks to temporary personnel. With key departments and the HRF Store being reviewed, investigators are scrutinizing records in depth to establish accountability and uncover the full extent of alleged irregularities.
