Jharkhand Governor Approves Appointment of Four Information Commissioners
Jharkhand Governor approves appointment of four – Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has officially approved the appointment of four new Information Commissioners, marking a pivotal step in reviving the state’s Right to Information (RTI) mechanism. This decision, made in response to the need for a more functional State Information Commission, comes after months of delays and administrative bottlenecks. The four individuals—Anuj Kumar Sinha, Tanuj Khatri, Amulya Neeraj Khalkho, and Shivpujan Pathak—will now assume their roles, which are critical for ensuring government transparency and public accountability. The approval aligns with Section 16(3) of the RTI Act, 2005, and follows a process that aimed to avert a potential contempt ruling from the Jharkhand High Court, which had criticized the Commission’s inactivity since 2020.
