Kundra painted a grim picture of the facility’s overcrowding, stating that hundreds of inmates were crammed into a space designed to hold roughly fifty. His daily sustenance, he said, consisted of nothing more than Parle-G biscuits and plain water. Over the course of those two months behind bars, he shed between 17 and 18 kilograms of body weight.

Police alleged that his company, Viaan Industries, played an operational role in running the Hotshots app, and that WhatsApp messages, email correspondence, and seized electronic devices tied him to the scheme. In September 2021, the Crime Branch lodged a supplementary chargesheet spanning 1,467 pages, naming Kundra alongside three other individuals. Officers characterised him as a principal facilitator of the alleged racket and asserted that the videos generated revenue through paid subscriptions. Kundra rejected every charge, insisting he had been cast as a scapegoat.
Bail and Life After
A Mumbai magistrate released him on bail on September 20, 2021. In doing so, the court observed that the element of inducement necessary to sustain the cheating allegation appeared absent from the material placed before it.
By 2026, Kundra has kept returning to the episode in public forums. He also produced a film titled UT69, drawn from his own experience. Most recently, he competed on the reality programme The Traitors, hosted by Karan Johar, where he was eliminated in the early stages of the contest.
