Pickup van driver, 21, found dead in vehicle near Mussoorie: Uttarakhand police
Bharatmorningnews.com – A 21-year-old pickup van driver was found dead in his vehicle near Old Maggi Point on the Mussoorie-Dehradun highway in Uttarakhand early Thursday morning, police said.
The deceased, a resident of the Kempty area of Tehri Garhwal district, was found by his elder brother, who was travelling along the same route and noticed his brother’s pickup van parked on the roadside in suspicious circumstances.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death from all possible angles.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Mussoorie police station Devendra Chauhan said the deceased’s 28-year-old brother informed the Kolukhet police outpost and approached the vehicle to check on his brother. “He found him hanging from a thin white rope tied to the left exterior cargo rail of the pickup,” Chauhan said.
A police team subsequently reached the spot and inspected the area. Police secured and sealed the site to preserve evidence and called a forensic field unit to collect scientific evidence, Chauhan said.
The police also conducted the legal inquest proceedings and sent the body for a postmortem.
Officers said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death from all possible angles. Police are also examining the call details and other information from the deceased’s mobile phone as part of the investigation.
