LDA starts ₹38-crore Bandha road widening project
LDA Initiates ₹38-Crore Bandha Road Expansion Project
LDA starts 38 crore Bandha road – Following reports of persistent traffic bottlenecks in Lucknow’s northern areas, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has launched a ₹38-crore initiative to widen the 3.37-km Bandha Road, linking Pakka Pul to Sitapur Road. The project, set for completion by December 2026, was ordered by LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar during a recent inspection.
Current Road Conditions
Bandha Road currently spans only five metres in width, leading to significant traffic delays. Heavy vehicle movement along the stretch frequently causes congestion, especially during rush hours. The LDA plans to increase the road’s width to 15 metres, aiming to improve flow and reduce bottlenecks.
Community Benefits
Officials estimate that the project will significantly ease travel for nearly 10 lakh residents in Khadra, Madeyganj, Faizullaganj, Priyadarshini Yojana, and surrounding neighborhoods. Enhanced connectivity and shorter travel times are expected to benefit these areas, as highlighted by LDA representatives.
“Engineers must ensure the project is completed on schedule,” Kumar emphasized after inspecting the site. He also directed teams to prioritize progress, warning that delays could lead to disciplinary measures.
Stadium Development Plans
During a separate visit, Kumar approved the construction of a swimming pool, an indoor badminton court, and a new basketball court at the LDA stadium in Aliganj. The existing gym, which has been idle, is now slated for renovation and activation. These additions aim to boost recreational facilities in the region.
Other Infrastructure Projects
Alongside the road expansion, the LDA has outlined plans to create a community center and implement horticulture projects on approximately 14,800 sq m of vacant land near Sargam Apartment on Kursi Road in Jankipuram. These efforts are part of broader city development goals.
