Bharatmorningnews.com – A Central Reserve Police Force constable, who was completing pre-induction training, was discovered deceased within the training camp premises in Kangpokpi district on Wednesday evening. Local authorities have verified the tragic development.
Following this unfortunate event, the Sapermeina police station has officially registered an unnatural death case. The registration was made under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), as per official records.
Recent Pattern of Suicides Among Security Personnel
This tragedy follows closely on the heels of another incident involving CRPF personnel. Just one day prior, on Tuesday, a CRPF assistant sub-inspector in Nagaon district of Assam allegedly took the lives of two fellow colleagues with a service rifle. The same officer subsequently ended his own life.
Security Deployment in Manipur
According to the Manipur police department’s administrative report covering 2025-26, more than 300 companies of central security forces are presently stationed across the state.
The current deployment includes 206 CRPF companies, 100 Border Security Forces (BSF) companies, 21 Assam Rifles units, 6 Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) companies, and 5 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) companies. These forces operate alongside army and Manipur police personnel.
Additionally, reports confirm that two battalions of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) unit were deployed in June. Their primary responsibilities encompass counter-insurgency operations, recovery of weapons, dismantling illegal bunkers, and maintaining area domination.

Manipur has experienced continuous unrest since May 3, 2023. This period of tension began following an ethnic clash between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, which has since required extensive security presence in the region.
