Wangchuk Commends Railways During Return Journey to Ladakh
Bharatmorningnews.com – Following his hunger strike conclusion and subsequent hospital care, scientist and activist Sonam Wangchuk embarked on a journey back to Jammu and Kashmir aboard a Vande Bharat express train. His travel plans included a stopover before continuing onward to Ladakh the following day.
On Thursday morning, Wangchuk posted a video on X platform where he expressed admiration for Indian Railways while simultaneously calling upon the central government to honor its commitments. The activist highlighted railways as his preferred transportation method, specifically commending the Vande Bharat service connecting Delhi with Jammu and Kashmir.
“I wanted to see the Chenab bridge as well and it was a very beautiful experience. I am very proud of Indian Railways,” Wangchuk stated in the recorded message.
During his address, Wangchuk issued a straightforward request to authorities regarding student protesters. He reminded officials of their pledge not to register First Information Reports against participants involved in countrywide demonstrations.
He also welcomed the recent legislative development concerning examination reforms.
“I am happy that the bill has been introduced for the improvement of exams in Parliament. I hope this improvement in introduced not just in exams but also the entire education system,” he remarked.
Additionally, Wangchuk referenced previous agreements made both in writing and with the Cockroach Janta Party organization. He urged the government to maintain these commitments and foster trust among younger citizens.
“I would also like to appeal the government who had agreed with me in written and then with the Cockroach Janta Party that there will be no legal action against students who were part of the protest at Jantar Mantar to abide by it and try to build an environment of trust, especially with the young generation,” he emphasized.

The Lok Sabha approved the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 through a voice vote on Wednesday. This legislation represents significant progress toward establishing stricter penalties for examination paper leaks, particularly following the NEET-UG scandal that prompted Dharmendra Pradhan’s departure from his position as education minister.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court issued directives on Thursday concerning injured demonstrators. The court bench, comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant alongside Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, ordered the Delhi administration to guarantee adequate medical care for petitioners and other individuals who suffered pellet gun wounds during the demonstrations.
“Government of Delhi shall provide medical treatment to the injured petitioner or other similarly placed individuals,” the court declared according to Bar and Bench reports.
