UP Deputy CM Emphasizes Priority Support for Military Families on Kargil Victory Day

On Sunday, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation organized a special ceremony to recognize the relatives of braveheart soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while performing their duties. The occasion marked the 27th year since India celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, serving as the chief guest at the function held in Kargil Shaheed Smriti Vatika, issued comprehensive instructions to government authorities. He directed them to create a complete registry of all Lucknow households where members have rendered service to the armed forces. According to Pathak, resolving outstanding concerns of these families must become a top priority within predetermined timeframes.

Reflecting on the valor displayed during the 1999 Kargil conflict, the deputy chief minister emphasized that honoring military families represents a collective moral obligation. He further noted that the city’s BrahMos missile production unit demonstrates Lucknow’s expanding role in strengthening India’s defense capabilities.

Officials Urge Public Vigilance and Support

Urban development minister AK Sharma addressed the gathering, calling upon residents to stay alert regarding false information spreading across digital platforms. He also highlighted the presence of anti-national forces seeking to create discord. Sharma instructed departmental officials to handle grievances submitted by veterans, active personnel, and their relatives with utmost urgency.

Mayor Sushma Kharkwal echoed similar sentiments, describing Kargil Vijay Diwas as a powerful symbol of national pride and unwavering dedication. She stressed that recognizing the contributions of soldiers’ families is essential for every citizen.

Ceremonial Tributes and Cultural Performances

The event commenced with a solemn floral offering at the memorial site. Subsequently, dignitaries presented tokens of appreciation to the relatives of distinguished warriors including Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, who received the Param Vir Chakra, alongside Lance Naik Kevalanand Dwivedi and Rifleman Sunil Jang.

Relatives of several other gallant servicemen, along with ‘Veer Matas’ and ‘Veer Naris’, were also recognized during the ceremony. The celebrations concluded with vibrant cultural presentations and patriotic songs delivered by pupils from Municipal Girls’ Inter College, Modern Montessori School, and Aminabad Inter College.
