Donald and Lowry Headline DP World India Championship Return

Bharatmorningnews.com – European Ryder Cup skipper Luke Donald alongside Major champion Shane Lowry are preparing for their comeback to Delhi. The pair will compete in the second iteration of the DP World India Championship, scheduled for October at the Delhi Golf Club.

A Star-Studded Lineup

The tournament, offering a prize fund of USD 4,000,000, will run from October 15 through 18. Participants include numerous European Ryder Cup veterans as well as Ryan Fox, the recently crowned Open Champion.

Donald earned his captaincy credentials by leading Europe to consecutive Ryder Cup triumphs. The victories came in Rome during 2023 and in New York the following year. This achievement places him among an elite group, as only Tony Jacklin had previously secured home and away wins as European captain, accomplishing the feat in 1985 and 1987. Donald now aims to continue writing history when he returns to Adare Manor in Ireland for the 2027 edition.

The former World Number One previously competed in India during his professional debut last year. He joins a competitive roster featuring several key figures from Europe’s recent Ryder Cup successes. Defending titleholder Tommy Fleetwood will participate, along with back-to-back Masters winner Rory McIlroy. Major champion Justin Rose and dual-tour victor Viktor Hovland round out the notable European contingent.

“It’s a privilege to be able to play golf all over the world, and I really enjoyed my first experience of Delhi last year. It’s shaping up to be another incredible field, and I look forward to teeing it up alongside so many European Ryder Cup players in particular.”

Lowry, who placed tied for third in the tournament’s debut year, hopes to improve upon his showing at the Delhi Golf Club.

“It was enjoyable to be part of the first edition of the event, and I look forward to more of the same this October,” said Lowry.
