Footage captured by CCTV cameras has circulated widely online, depicting the harrowing moments when Ankit Sabharwal and his spouse Shifali visited Ghuman Nagar with a real estate agent to inspect a potential rental home.
According to the video, the moment the property gate swung open, the unleashed pet dog lunged at Shifali. The animal targeted her arm and various body parts, inflicting deep wounds. As Ankit attempted to shield his wife, the pitbull turned its attention to him, leaving substantial injuries on his legs and back.
A woman emerged from the dwelling wielding a stick, though she could not subdue the aggressive animal. Local residents soon arrived, armed with sticks and wipers, as the couple made their escape attempt.
Medical Treatment and Police Action

This attack follows another incident on August 9, when a young girl was reportedly mauled by a stray dog in the Guru Nanak Nagar locality.
A senior Patiala Municipal Corporation official noted that the civic body prohibits residents from keeping ferocious breeds like pit bulls as household pets. Nevertheless, implementing these regulations effectively continues to pose difficulties.
