Shatrughan Sinha Blames BJP IT Cell

Bharatmorningnews.com – Veteran Bollywood actor and All India Trinamool Congress parliamentarian Shatrughan Sinha blames BJP IT cell operatives for what he calls a coordinated, paid trolling campaign aimed at his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha. In a candid interview with ABP News, the 80-year-old performer described the online abuse as entirely scripted, claiming that the accounts flooding Sonakshi's social-media pages receive written instructions from party-linked digital units before posting.

Scripted Accounts and Paid Operatives

The veteran actor was blunt in characterising the digital onslaught. He stated that the trolls do not form their own opinions but simply read out lines handed to them by organisational handlers.

"Many people who troll her and try to create ruckus around her, they are paid trolls. The IT cell that our friends have, the BJP, they are doing it and also those who want to follow their policies. This trolling is manufactured, they are paid trolls, they don't even know what to say… it is written and given to them. But Sonakshi has done the right thing by saying that she doesn't even look at trolls. Bahut jaan hai usmein (She is very strong)."

Shatrughan added that his daughter's refusal to engage with the accounts is itself a form of resistance, one he described with visible pride. He framed the entire episode not as organic public disagreement but as a partisan operation designed to silence a young woman's political voice.

Sonakshi's Political Ambitions Left Deliberately Unconfirmed

Reporters pressed the actor on whether Sonakshi plans to contest elections or take a formal role in Trinamool Congress politics. Shatrughan declined to set a timeline, though he conceded that her convictions sometimes outpace his own in intensity.

"I can't say. Earlier, I used to ask. I can only say she is the most worthy daughter of a worthy father."

The exchange also surfaced questions about why Sonakshi had not publicly echoed support for student protests in Jharkhand. Shatrughan pushed back on the premise, noting that his daughter had already voiced solidarity with Jharkhand's student activists days before the Delhi gathering that drew national attention.

A Recurring Pattern of Digital Backlash

This latest flare-up does not exist in isolation. Sonakshi previously endured sustained social-media criticism following her marriage to Zaheer Iqbal, a sequence that observers at the time described as unusually coordinated in tone and timing. The recurrence suggests, in Shatrughan's telling, a standing playbook rather than a spontaneous public reaction.

The most recent wave of trolling intensified after Sonakshi voiced support for the Central Jharkhand Panthers-led student demonstration staged at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. When activist Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly removed from the site during the protest, she posted a video condemning the act and expressing solidarity with Wangchuk and the thousands of fellow demonstrators still on the ground.

"The thing that happened with Sonam sir today… it wasn't right. I am glad that he's okay and that his wife is with him. He's strong, he's alert. In the last few days, I have been seeing him and the thousands standing with him."

She went on to commend the demonstrators' composure throughout the ordeal, praising their refusal to respond with violence despite sustained pressure.

"No matter what has been going on, they have stayed calm, respectful, and have kept their point forward without violence. We all know the country's strength is in its youth. Now, I feel like that's true after looking at them. Even after all the discomfort, disappointment and difficulties, the way you have held on to your beliefs, hats off to you."
