Indian Woman in Germany Shares Job Hunt Reality After 38 'Silent Rejections'

Indian woman in Germany shares job hunt - Securing employment overseas is frequently seen as a fantasy, yet one Indian woman living in Germany has shared a raw account of the challenges involved. Komal, who posted on X, recounted her experience of submitting 40 applications before receiving a single interview invitation. She highlighted that rejection "is not personal, it's just numbers," emphasizing the impersonal nature of the process.

She shared that out of 40 job applications, 38 went unanswered, one received a quick "no," and another invited her for an interview. A single response was all it took to shift her perspective.

"The emotional weight of these unacknowledged rejections, however, is often overlooked. Days spent checking emails with no replies and multiple CV revisions filled with self-doubt became a common reality," she wrote.

Komal emphasized that the experience taught her a valuable lesson: "Nothing was wrong with me. I was simply a woman from Maharashtra learning that rejections in Germany are not personal—just part of a system that relies on efficiency."

Her post resonated with many social media users, who echoed similar struggles and offered encouragement. One remarked, "Maturity means understanding that rejection is inherent to the process. Those who evaluate applications operate within a system where efficiency takes precedence. Trust in the system, and even if you remain unselected for months, the best opportunity might arrive when you least expect it," the user said. "Personal experience."

Another commenter, who has lived in Germany for six years, noted, "At 41, I've submitted over 300 job applications during my career. Receiving no responses has become the norm. It’s not personal; it’s efficient. Not responding to 100 applicants to say 'no' saves costs. While digital tools make communication faster, this remains a standard part of the German job market. Stay resilient!"

"One 'yes' can render every 'no' insignificant. Congratulations on your perseverance!"

"Each rejection serves as feedback rather than a definitive judgment. In international hiring, success hinges on persistence, thorough preparation, and timing. Continuously refine your resume, customize applications, and sharpen your skills. A single 'yes' can redefine your career path."

"The psychological strain of those unresponsive rejections is far greater than a swift 'no.' It’s heartening to see you persisted, as that one 'yes' ultimately holds the most significance."
