"In Coimbatore, 19-year-old Amudhan was brutally killed. It's not a gang war, it's a murder. He belongs to the SC community," Stalin said.
According to Stalin, Amudhan's parents contacted him directly and alleged that their son was slain after passing information about drug-related operations to authorities. The opposition leader echoed their claim on the floor.
"The drugs should have been seized. The main reason behind Amudhan's death is due to drugs. Their parents spoke to me; they said Amudhan was killed because he gave a tip-off about the drug menace," he said.
Demonstration in Kallakurichi
Stalin disclosed that, following instructions from his party chief, the Kallakurichi district unit had mounted a large-scale protest demanding accountability in the Amudhan case.
"Based on the orders of our leader, we staged a huge demonstration in Kallakurichi. We cannot overlook this as just another murder; we need to bring those at fault to justice," he said.
Chennai Student Dhanush and Wider Pattern
The opposition leader then shifted focus to Tiruvottiyur in Chennai, where a Class XII student named Dhanush was hacked to death. Stalin alleged that Dhanush, like Amudhan, had provided a tip-off to a drug-peddling gang before being killed.
"Similar to Coimbatore, in Chennai, Dhanush, a Class XII student, was brutally hacked because he gave a tip-off. The government said they are against drugs, but murders are happening," Stalin said.
He went on to note that comparable incidents had surfaced across other districts of Tamil Nadu within the same one-week window, adding that multiple sexual-assault cases had also been reported during the period.
"I am bringing all these things to the government's attention. All these incidents have happened in the past one week. Not just murders, several sexual assault incidents have taken place in the state," he said.
Demands for School Counselling and Anti-Drug Action
Stalin pressed the ruling party to introduce mandatory counselling sessions in school classrooms and to deploy stringent measures against substance abuse. He also questioned what concrete steps the administration planned to take to curb sexual-harassment incidents.
"We urge the government to take counselling classes in classrooms; the government should take stringent action against drugs," he said.
Closing his intervention, Stalin contrasted the administration's celebratory messaging with the reality on the ground.
"Even as the government boasts about its achievements during its first 100 days in office, these very incidents bear witness to the dire state of law and order in Tamil Nadu during this period," Stalin said.
