‘Direct threat to regional peace’: India slams Pakistan for attacks on Afghanistan

Direct threat to regional peace - The Indian government has issued sharp criticism against Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on Afghan territory, citing significant civilian casualties. A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday condemned the attacks, emphasizing their impact on women and children.

“This blatant act of aggression by Pakistan is an assault on Afghanistan's sovereignty and a direct threat to regional peace and stability,” said the MEA, highlighting the country’s “persistent pattern of reckless behaviour” and “futile attempt to externalize internal failures through desperate acts of violence beyond its borders.”

Afghan Government Issues Strong Protest

The Taliban-led Afghan administration raised a “strong and resolute protest” against the airstrikes, which targeted eastern provinces and left 36 civilians dead, 163 injured. The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on X that the country’s diplomats summoned the Pakistani Charge d’Affaires to address the violations.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers these attacks a clear violation of international principles, humanitarian laws, and the national sovereignty of countries, and strongly condemns them,” the ministry added.

Pakistan Confirms Strikes Amid Border Tensions

Pakistan acknowledged the airstrikes, with Information Minister Attaullah Tarar asserting that security forces executed a “well-planned intelligence-based ground operation” in conjunction with aerial attacks in the frontier zone. The regional dispute intensified after a Saturday night assault on the Sindh Rangers’ provincial headquarters in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Karachi.

“Three Pakistani paramilitary personnel and three attackers were killed following a vehicle ramming the main gate, which triggered intense gunfire and explosions,” reported the Sindh police chief to Dawn.

Escalating Border Conflict

The Afghan Foreign Ministry accused Pakistan of shifting blame for internal security issues onto Afghanistan, despite lacking evidence. It also alleged continued military aggression across the border, citing the airstrikes as part of a broader pattern of hostility.
