Two Minors Held for Stone Pelted Incident Involving RSS Leader on Train
Incident Overview
Two minors held for pelting stones - On Friday, two young ragpickers were detained for allegedly throwing stones at the Delhi-bound Swarn Shatabdi Express. The action caused damage to a window of the E-1 coach, where RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was seated. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, including to Bhagwat, who was on the opposite side of the coach.
Authorities are actively seeking a third individual, also a ragpicker and juvenile, linked to the event. The incident occurred around 7:20 pm as the Kanpur-Delhi Swarn Shatabdi Express traveled through Makkhanpur station and approached Tundla Junction. The train was briefly stopped outside the junction following the stone impact.
Police Investigation
Firozabad police identified three minors via CCTV footage, according to officials. The search operation, initiated by Additional Director General of Police (Agra Zone) SK Bhagat and Deputy Inspector General (Agra Range) Shailesh Pandey, led to the apprehension of two suspects.
Firozabad SSP Aditya Langhe disclosed that the two detained minors were unaware of Bhagwat's presence on the train. They were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a juvenile home. The third accused remains at large.
Criminal Background
Langhe stated that the two arrested minors had prior involvement in similar incidents in 2024 and 2025, alongside theft cases. The case was registered at Rasoolpur police station based on a complaint from the Railway Protection Force under Section 153 of the Railways Act.
"Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat was in the coach that was pelted with stones, damaging the window glass. He was seated on the other side of the coach and was safe. No one was injured," GRP inspector Sher Singh said.
