Railway Loco Pilot Charged in Fatal Shooting Over Debt Dispute

Rly loco pilot held for killing 38 - On June 6, two individuals—among them a shooter—were apprehended following the killing of a 38-year-old man on the Tariya-Patpara village road near Patpara in Chandauli district. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Mughalsarai police station, authorities confirmed.

Identified Suspects and Arrest Details

The deceased has been named as Manoj Kumar, while the accused include Krishna Bhagwan Singh, a railway loco pilot from Chandauli, and Suraj Kumar Singh, a resident of Ara, Bihar. Police stated that Suraj was captured during a confrontation in Chandauli on Monday.

“Ashok Kumar Kharwar lodged a complaint alleging his brother, Manoj Kumar, was shot dead by unidentified individuals on the Tariya-Patpara road under Alinagar police station area,” said Superintendent of Police Akash Patel.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Following the complaint, a case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder. Analysis of Manoj Kumar’s call detail records uncovered a suspicious call, which, when matched with CCTV footage, led to Krishna Bhagwan Singh being identified as the prime suspect. He was detained for questioning.

Motive and Execution of Crime

During interrogation, Krishna Bhagwan Singh disclosed that he had borrowed ₹3 lakh from Manoj Kumar in 2020, with interest. Due to missed payments, the debt grew to ₹7 lakh. The accused claimed Manoj had intentions to harm his daughter-in-law, prompting the plan to eliminate him. A hired shooter, Bharat Singh, arrived with his accomplice Suraj Kumar Singh (alias Rajesh) at Krishna Bhagwan Singh’s government residence in Mughalsarai.

On June 6, Krishna Bhagwan Singh arranged a meeting with Manoj Kumar, citing the debt as the reason. When Manoj arrived, he was ambushed by Suraj, who fired shots at his head and chest. The shooters fled to Bihar via the Ring Road on a motorcycle, while Krishna Bhagwan Singh returned to his official quarters.

Police have now filed charges against Krishna Bhagwan Singh under Section 109(1) of the Bihar National Security Act, alongside Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. Further inquiries are ongoing to gather more evidence.
