Ludhiana: Private School Owner and Director Arrested for Misleading Parents with CBSE Affiliation Claims

Ludhiana - A private school's owner and director have been arrested for allegedly deceiving parents by falsely asserting the institution's affiliation with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to attract students, even though the school wasn't officially recognized by the board.

Accused Identified

The individuals involved are Surinder Singla, a resident of Canal View Enclave, Bulara village, and his spouse Anita Singla, who oversees Global Sparks Convent International School in MJK Nagar, Bapu Market.

FIR Registration

The case was initiated at Daba police station after an investigation into a complaint submitted by Gurbakshish Singh, a Maharaj Nagar resident. His report detailed the school's misleading practices regarding its CBSE connection.

“The management invited admissions while falsely claiming the school was affiliated with CBSE. I verified the status independently and confirmed it wasn’t affiliated,” said Gurbakshish Singh.

Deception Alleged

The complainant argued that the school's leadership exploited parents' trust by presenting the institution as a CBSE-affiliated entity, thereby influencing the educational prospects of children seeking enrollment.

Police confirmed the allegations were reviewed before the case was officially filed. Head constable Gopal, the investigator, stated the accused were charged under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to cheating and criminal conspiracy.

CBSE Coordinator's Insight

Harmeet Kaur Warraich, Ludhiana's CBSE coordinator, noted that several parents had approached her months prior to check the school's affiliation status. “Upon verification, it was clear the institution wasn’t affiliated with CBSE, and we informed the parents,” she added.
