Expedite road work complete projects on time - On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued instructions to officials to finalize PWD and other initiatives in the Varanasi division before the monsoon season begins. He emphasized the need for expedited action, urging divisional commissioners and district magistrates to conduct regular assessments to ensure uninterrupted construction activities.
No tolerance for delays in road development, the leader asserted, highlighting the importance of maintaining strict adherence to timelines and quality benchmarks.
Project Status in Varanasi Region
During his visit to Varanasi, Adityanath convened with PWD officials and engineers at the Circuit House auditorium to evaluate the status of ongoing infrastructure projects. According to reports, 2,630 projects valued at ₹7,175 crore are currently in progress across the region.
Officials noted that 687 projects have been fully completed, while 90% of construction is underway in 542 additional projects. In Varanasi district specifically, 421 projects worth ₹3,223 crore are active, with 85 fully finished and 158 reaching 90% completion.
Varanasi District's Ongoing Initiatives
The CM mandated pre-repair surveys for all road projects to guarantee thorough planning. He also directed the Municipal Corporation to prioritize urban road maintenance and integrate suggestions from local representatives into project designs. Work commencement was to be contingent on resource availability to avoid disruptions.
Additional Projects Under Review
Adityanath also scrutinized the progress of the Chandauli integrated court complex, emphasizing its completion by the scheduled deadline. He further called for prioritizing the Unity Mall project in Varanasi, urging the PWD to fast-track its development.
Meeting Attendance and Overview
Ajay Chauhan, principal secretary of the PWD, provided a comprehensive update on regional projects during the session. The gathering included several ministers, legislators, and administrative officials who participated in the discussion.
