Etawah DFO and Driver Killed in Accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway

Bharatmorningnews.com – An Etawah DFO driver killed in accident case has left the forest department and local residents grieving after divisional forest officer Vikas Nayak and his driver, Devansh, died in a collision on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The crash took place on Tuesday in Firozabad district, within the Nagla Khangar police station area.

Nayak was travelling from Lucknow towards Agra in an SUV when it was hit by another four-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. Five people were injured in the collision, and three of them were initially reported to be in critical condition. All injured people were taken to the medical college at Saifai for treatment.

Crash reported near the 69-kilometre marker

Police were alerted through the 112 emergency service at around 10.45am. The accident occurred close to the 69-kilometre marker on the expressway, which connects Agra and Lucknow and carries fast-moving traffic across several districts of Uttar Pradesh.

“The police, on reaching the spot, found the accident was caused because of a collision between two four-wheelers leaving five injured who were rushed to medical college at Saifai. Three of the injured were in critical condition,” said Chanchal Tyagi.

Emergency teams and police personnel responded at the site before the injured were transported for medical attention. Two of those critically injured later died. Officials identified them as Vikas Nayak, the serving divisional forest officer of Etawah, and Devansh, who was driving the SUV.

“Two critically injured succumbed. One of them was identified as Vikas Nayak who was presently the DFO at Etawah and the other deceased was identified as his driver Devansh,” DSP Chanchal Tyagi of the Sirsaganj circle said.

Vehicle reportedly crossed the central divider

Initial information from Nagla Khangar police indicated that the second vehicle was travelling from Haryana towards Lucknow. Authorities believe its driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The vehicle reportedly struck the central divider, crossed into the opposite carriageway and collided with the SUV in which Nayak was travelling.

The Etawah DFO driver killed in accident incident illustrates the severe risk created when a vehicle crosses a median on a high-speed route. Drivers approaching from the opposite side often have very little time or distance to avoid an oncoming vehicle, especially on an expressway where traffic moves at sustained speeds.

A 65-year-old woman was also travelling in the DFO’s SUV. She is the mother of a forest department officer and was critically injured in the crash. Other injured people were receiving medical care after being shifted to Saifai.

Forest department mourns the deaths

Vikas Nayak was serving as Etawah’s divisional forest officer at the time of the crash. A DFO holds an important field-level role in forest administration, overseeing departmental operations and forest management work within an assigned division. His death is a significant loss for the Etawah forest department.

Devansh also lost his life in the collision while driving the SUV. The deaths of Nayak and Devansh brought the number of fatalities in the accident to two. Police began the required legal procedures and continued efforts to establish the precise circumstances behind the crash.

The investigation is expected to focus on the sequence in which the other vehicle reached the divider and entered the opposite lane. The immediate priorities for authorities remain the treatment of the injured, documentation of the collision and completion of formal action connected with the case.

The Etawah DFO driver killed in accident case also serves as a reminder of the dangers of fatigue during long road journeys. Drowsiness can affect concentration, lane control and reaction time. Taking rest breaks and avoiding driving while exhausted are essential safety measures, particularly on expressways where a brief lapse can have devastating consequences.
