Meanwhile, twenty-seven-year-old Hemendra from Rajasthan was waiting for transportation near a private university in Dankaur, preparing to travel to Dholpur. The kidnappers first targeted Naman, seizing him and taking ₹800 from his possession before moving on to Hemendra.

Hemendra was robbed of ₹3,000 and then compelled to contact his siblings for additional financial assistance. His relatives promptly transferred ₹5,000 through electronic means. However, the kidnappers were not satisfied and demanded an additional ₹50,000. At this critical juncture, Hemendra's brothers contacted the emergency 112 helpline to alert authorities about the situation.

"Three people were travelling in a Hyundai i20. At Zero Point, they abducted Naman in their car and snatched ₹800. Then they waylaid Hemendra near a private university in Dankaur, robbed him off ₹3,000, and forced him to call his brothers to transfer more money online. His brothers transferred ₹5,000, after which the suspects demanded another ₹50,000. The brothers then dialled 112 to inform the police," said assistant commissioner of police (Greater Noida) Dr Ravi Shanker.

The Police Encounter

Upon receiving the distress call, Greater Noida police personnel immediately began patrolling and scanning vehicles in the vicinity. Officers stopped a red car that appeared suspicious, which led to a pursuit. When the suspects realized they were being followed, they attempted to escape but found themselves cornered. The situation escalated when the accused discharged their weapons at the police, who responded with retaliatory gunfire.

The shootout resulted in two suspects being injured in their legs. These two injured in police encounter were subsequently apprehended and transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. A third accomplice managed to flee the scene and remains at large as police continue their search operations.

"Police launched an inquiry and intercepted a red car that appeared suspicious. A chase ensued and police officials surrounded the suspect car. When cornered, the suspects opened fire on the police, prompting police personnel to fire retaliatory shots. Two suspects sustained gunshot wounds in the leg, and were arrested and taken to a nearby hospital," said additional deputy commissioner of police (Greater Noida) Santosh Kumar.

The two injured suspects, both in their early twenties and originating from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh respectively, were taken into custody. Police successfully freed the two men who had been held captive throughout the ordeal. During the operation, officers recovered substantial evidence from the scene, including two pistols, two spent cartridges, five live cartridges, four mobile phones, a knife, and ₹10,000 in cash that was allegedly stolen from the victims.

A comprehensive legal case has been registered against the accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including section 109 for attempt to murder, section 127(2) for wrongful confinement, section 352 for intent to provoke breach of peace, and section 351(3) for criminal intimidation. Additionally, charges have been filed under sections 3, 25, and 27 of the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to locate the third suspect who escaped during the encounter.
