Two Haryana Residents Arrested in School Administrator's Killing

2 Haryana men held for Sanjauli - Himachal Pradesh authorities have apprehended two men from Haryana in connection with the fatal shooting of a school administrator in Sanjauli. The arrests were made on Monday, following an incident that occurred on Saturday evening, according to police officials.

The accused, identified as Ashish Ahlawat, 22, from Jhajjar, and Deepak, 25, hailing from Rohtak, were detained in Rohtak. Both are linked to several prior cases, with Ahlawat charged under Section 308 of the BNS Act and Deepak facing four charges, including those under the Arms Act.

Crime Scene and Investigative Steps

Manisha Mittal, the victim, was killed outside her school by unknown attackers. She had previously shared concerns about threats to her safety, both publicly and via messages to her brother on social media. In a video, she highlighted a long-standing property dispute with her sibling over the school's ownership.

"The suspects arrived in Shimla in a white Swift car, using a forged registration number (HP-10 series) instead of their actual Haryana license plate," stated Shimla Assistant Superintendent of Police Abhishek. "Their faces were concealed during the encounter."

Policemen recovered the two pistols used in the attack from the accused. They are currently examining CCTV footage, witness accounts, and digital evidence to build a comprehensive case. The investigation is also focusing on potential connections to the property dispute and personal conflicts, which had been ongoing since 2020 and were even reported to the Governor last year.

Brother's Denial and Minister's Assurance

Himank Mittal, the deceased’s brother, addressed the incident in a social media video. He denied any involvement in the murder and stated he had been questioned by police. Himank also revealed he was attacked on June 1, resulting in injuries.

The arrest follows assurances from Himachal Pradesh's education minister, Rohit Thakur, who had promised swift action hours earlier. As the case unfolds, authorities continue to probe all leads, aiming to uncover the full extent of the suspects' roles in the crime.
