SIT Detains Inspector’s Aide in Andhra Custodial Death Case

SIT detains inspector s aide in Andhra – The Andhra Pradesh police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken custody of a key associate of arrested inspector S S V V Nagaraju, suspecting their involvement in the disposal of 25-year-old Gade Sai Krishna’s body after his alleged death in custody at Krishna Lanka police station in Vijayawada. Sources close to the case revealed this development on Saturday.

Interrogation to Uncover Post-Death Activities

A senior police official stated that Suresh, a close friend of Nagaraju, was detained by the SIT late Friday. The official indicated that Suresh may have been responsible for moving Sai Krishna’s body from the station and cremating it at a local burial ground.

“The authorities are currently interrogating Suresh to determine the events that occurred after Sai Krishna’s reported death in custody. Once all leads are gathered, he will be formally arrested and presented to the local court,” the official said.

Allegations of Support and Connection to Absconding Officer

Preliminary investigations suggest Suresh provided assistance to Nagaraju following the incident. The SIT is also examining Suresh’s role in police operations and his ties to the officer who has since fled.

Two head constables, Jangam Nani and Ashok, have been on the run since the case was registered on June 19. Special teams have been sent to Hyderabad and Bengaluru to track them down.

High Court Petition for Independent Probe

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Saturday accepted a petition by Sai Krishna’s mother, Gade Vijayalakshmi, requesting the investigation be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or another independent body, as reported by sources.

Vijayalakshmi also sought that the probe be overseen directly by the high court to ensure impartiality and transparency.

“In her petition, Vijayalakshmi argued that the local police could not conduct an unbiased investigation, referencing the SIT remand report that reportedly implicated staff from Krishna Lanka police station and the Task Force in Sai Krishna’s disappearance and evidence tampering,” sources said.

“She further claimed efforts were being made to protect higher-ranking officers and questioned the 40-day silence of NTR district police commissioner SV Rajasekhara Babu,” the petition stated.
