Death of Indian Seafarers: Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes ‘Weak’ Foreign Policy
Death of Indian seafarers – Following a U.S. military strike on the Palau-registered commercial ship MT Settebello near Oman’s coast, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav condemned the federal government’s foreign policy on Friday. The incident, which claimed the lives of three Indian seafarers, prompted Yadav to highlight systemic failures in protecting Indian citizens abroad.
During a media interaction in Kasganj, Yadav asserted that the Centre’s inability to influence global affairs had led to the loss of lives in the ongoing conflict. “Indians are perishing worldwide due to our ineffective foreign strategy. We missed the chance to reshape global politics by halting Gulf wars, yet our administration failed to assert itself and let so many lives be lost,” he argued.
Development Achievements in Kasganj-Etah Region
Yadav also emphasized the SP’s developmental initiatives in Kasganj-Etah, pointing to infrastructure projects like the Etah power plant and road construction during his leadership. He reiterated the party’s commitment to regional progress, contrasting it with current governance shortcomings.
Decline of Public Services and Economic Concerns
He further accused the government of undermining public services, including the 108 ambulance service introduced by the SP. “Patients arriving at hospitals often find no doctors or medicines available,” Yadav stated. Additionally, he criticized the rise of liquor shops while primary schools face closures, accusing officials of neglecting basic needs.
“BJP uses the cow as a political symbol to attract votes, but we focus on delivering real service to people,” Yadav remarked, addressing concerns about electoral manipulation.
On the issue of ethanol blending, Yadav questioned the policy’s impact, citing the sale of adulterated petrol mixed with ethanol. He also highlighted farmers’ struggles, noting that their income has not doubled and they remain without proper minimum support prices, with stray cattle causing agricultural damage.
Yadav urged party workers to monitor alleged efforts to suppress opposition votes. “We must verify every household’s ballot in villages,” he said, claiming that Uttar Pradesh voters are ready to restore the SP to power in the 2027 elections.
